Malaysia, Animal Care Awareness Talk by Sri Sathya Sai Animal Care (SSSAC)

On 26 March 2025, the Leo Club of SM Convent Ipoh invited Sri Sathya Sai Animal Care (SSSAC) Coordinator of Sri Sathya Sai Global Association Malaysia (SSSGAM) for a talk on animal care awareness, with a special focus on strays in Malaysia.

The one-hour session was attended by over 650 students, aged 13 to 17, along with their teachers. As the room filled with eager faces, it was clear that this was more than just a talk, it was an opportunity to shape the hearts and minds of the next generation.

Sis Puvanes, the Sri Sathya Sai Animal Care Coordinator, spoke passionately about the importance of neutering, the difference between wild animals and homeless strays, and the significance of pet adoption drives. She also shed light on the alarming rise of animal abuse in educational institutions, urging students to become voices for the voiceless. Through real-life rescue stories and thought-provoking discussions, she instilled values of empathy, kindness, and responsibility.

One of the most moving moments was when Sis Puvanes shared the inspiring transformation of Azhagi—a once-abused, malnourished dog who had been reduced to skin and bones. With love and care from the SSSAC team, Azhagi blossomed into a beautiful and healthy companion. Seeing her journey from suffering to healing deeply touched the students, helping them understand the profound impact of compassion and action.

As the session came to a close, the atmosphere was filled with newfound awareness and purpose. Many students expressed their eagerness to help stray animals, realizing that even small acts of kindness can make a difference.

Children and youth are the leaders of tomorrow, and it is vital to sow the seeds of kindness and responsibility while their minds are still open and impressionable.

Awareness is crucial, and it is hoped that this initiative inspires more schools and educational institutions to take proactive steps in promoting animal welfare and fostering a more compassionate society.
